Teenage Abuse on Adults

Usually you hear about adults abusing younger people, but that was not the case in Albert Lea Minnesota. At Good Samaritan Society nursing home, there have been reports of abuse. About fifty angry people showed up at the company meeting Thursday night, criticizing the management for the handling of the abuse cases. Among this meeting was Jan Reshetar. Reshetar's mother in law was one of the the victims in the abuse cases. Jan Reshetar's mother in law said tried to tell people about the abuse but no one listened, most people just thought it was the Alzheimer's sun downers that was making her say all these crazy things, but she was not alone. The reports filed last week say that six teenage aides taunted residents with advanced dementia. The aides were have said to hit, poke breasts and genitals, and stuck fingers inside of residents noses and mouths to keep them from screaming and yelling. "Somebody needs to stick up for our moms and grandparents." This is a statement that Jan Reshetar will live by for the rest of her life.

Don't Skate to Soon

A man was found dead on sunday after falling through a lake. The man had been skating on lake when it broke. Emergency crews located an adult male underwater about 600 yards from shore. Fire crews attempted to resuscitate the unconscious man what had been transported to North Memorial Hospital. This is where the man had later died. Hennepin county officials said the man had recently moved to the twin cities from another state. The man was found wearing ice skates and a camera around his neck. Officials are unclear on long the man was underwater.
This goes to show you that you can never be to safe when skating on ponds and lakes. Make sure to check and see if the ice is thick enough to stand on. Here is a good sight for measures one should follow on making sure a lake or pond is safe for walking or skating on.

Doggy Drug Bust

Never have drugs been found at Minnesota's Chaska High-school before. That is, up until November 21. The random search turned up six students vehicles that had marijuana or other contraband. It was the first time the parking lot had ever been searched before. This was a major finding for the school, and it was all thanks to a dog. The K-9 was a big help in the bust.
The school sent a letter to school staff stating that there was no reason for the search. The school just wanted a safe, drug free environment. Not only is the high-school getting searched, so are both the middle schools in Chaska. Though they were both found to be drug free, the K-9 will keep sniffing. After this incident, the Chaska school district is going to be safe, rather than sorry.

Minnesota Loses an Avalanche of a game

The Minnesota Wild faced off against the Colorado Avalanche. It was a close game up until midway through the second period. The wild were leading 3 to 2 with two goals from Pierre-Marc Bouchard. The third from red hot Mikko Koivu. After this the wild tied a team record with four goals in the second period. The game ended up to be Colorad with six goals and Minnesota with five. It is the first time the Minnesota Wild lost when scoring five or more goals. It was also the fifth time in franchise history that the wild let in six goals. This was a very unusual game, considering the Minnesota Wild usually have extremely good defense . Even though the Wild lost, they learned a good lesson. They learned that you can never play with a lack of focus. If you are not in the game, the coach will make sure you are taken out.

Sticking up for a Teammate

The wild learned something in their game on saturday night. The wild faced an aggressive Nashville Predators team. The Wild and the Predators faced off in four different fights on saturday night. Two, of which involved Minnesota Forward Craig Weller.  "It is one of the few sports you can do it (fighting) and get away with it; five minutes (of penalty time)," said Weller, who has seven fighting penalties in only sixty nine career NHL hockey games. Minnesota's, Derek Boogaard, who is not afraid to drop the gloves, said it was the first game of this season that he could think of in which the opposing team came out especially aggressive. Seven penalties were given out in the first period alone, five of which were assed to the Nashville Predators. Sticking up for one another on the ice makes players play better. When they are out there they have a peace of mind. That is what makes the wild so good.

The great chase

A driver led minnesota police from Crystal to Golden Valley. The Chase started around two A.M. and ended in horror. The Driver ended this chase with a bang. The man was thrown from his car after hitting a curb, a stop sign, and a large park sign. The driver was taken to North Memorial Medical Center where he is being treated for serious injuries. Authorities say that the incident began when Crystal police were working on a drunk driving enforcement effort. The Police tried to pull over the man for a violation on Bass Lake Road. Crystal Police are still trying to investigate the whole situation and why the Driver fled. Some news reports say that the chase may have reached speeds up to one hundred miles per hour but police can not confirm that. The chase ended in Golden Valley at the entrance of Brookview Park just south of highway fifty five. Thankfully, no one else was injured.

A disappointing loss

The wild lost a very unusual game wednesday november twenty seventh, against the Dallas Stars. The Stars came back from a two goal deficit to win the game. This was no ordinary come back. First there was an extremely long review of a Mikko Koivu shot that obviously never a goal. Then there was barely any thought at a Stars goal that at least deserved a good look at. Then to top it all off, another Mikko Koivu goal was turned over due to a net that was off it's moorings.
Even more disappointing than that, is that the Minnesota Wild hit five cross bars or posts. This included a shot with eight seconds left in the game. The Wild had many chances to win this game including a missed shot by Eric Belanger on an open net. The odds were with the wild who have not lost a game at home in regulation when scoring three goals since November fourth 2006. It is also the first career game the Niklas Backstrom has lost in regulation after being up in the second period. This lost lead the Wild to a 1-3 five game home-stand. Hopefully the Wild will step up their game soon.

The Gohpers Win It in the Final Period

The score was tied two to two in a very intense game against New Hampshire, Then came the third Period. A Junior, Ryan Stoa started the scoring spree. His Short-handed goal put New Hampshire's confidence in the ground. From there on, the Golden Gophers opened up the game. The final three goals the Gophers scored came just under two and a half minutes. Two of them Scored by a Junior, Ryan Flynn, and in between his two goals the forth lines freshman center got his first goal of the season on a tip. The win was able to to keep the Gophers unbeaten with a record of 5-0-3. They also continued the continued the pattern with them having tied on a friday, winning the next night, for the third weekend in a row. By the looks of how the Minnesota Golden Gophers are playing this year, it looks like it is going to be a good season.

Retired Head foot ball coach dies

I read an article about a retired EDINA FOOTBALL coach that passed away. Stav Canakes, dies at the age of seventy five in his home of shakopee. He was the coach from 1961 untill he retired in 1990. The retired coach served in the army, and afterwards, played for the gophers football team. He then had a five year in Canadian Football League. He then coached for the greatest city's football team, Edina. He had a record of 203-69-1.He had a very good record and was always dominate. He led them to fifteen conference championships and the 1978 state title. He was the face of Edina Football for almost thirty years. After Buddish got injured, and then Edina lost to Eden Prarie, this is the last thing citizens of Edina wanted to hear. Canakes will be missed and for surly never forgotten.

To Be Continued

I read an article about Game Five in the world series. Game five was played on Monday, well at least most of it was. The Phillies were winning two to one in going into the fifth inning. The Rays tied the game in the top of the sixth. The game was then postponed to Tuesday due to rain. As everyone was getting ready for the big finish tonight, the hammer was dropped. The game will start on Wednesday, once again, due to rain. The Phillies are eager to finish the game because they lead the series three games to one. If they were to win the game that will be played on the twenty ninth of october, they win the world series for the first time since 1980. "We've got three and a half innings of baseball left." Said manager of the Phillies, Charlie Manuel,"We bat four times and they bat three. We've got twelve outs and they have got nine." He is thinking that they have a good chance of winning the game on Wednesday, but only time will tell.

Music Heroes

There are many different heroes in the music world. Many Bands such as Kiss, AC/DC, and Elvis Presely are known for being some of the ALL TIME MUSIC HEROES.
Music isn't only for listening to when you are bored, it is an inspiration to some people. It is what drives them through life. Music can make people happy, mad, sad, laugh, cry and many more things, and no matter what happens in someone's life, music will always be there for them.
Some of the Greatest Bands
There are many bands are up for the nomination of the GREATEST BAND EVER. The Steve Miller Band has been around Since the 1960's and have never been quiet.

smallko5.jpg

Some other Great bands are the Beatles, who came over from Liverpool, England in the 1960's. They were known as part of the British Invasion. The band Broke up in the year of 1970, and all four band members went upon solo careers. Even though broken up, the band is still listened to by many people and will always be listened to.

This is a Video of one of the most famous songs by the Beatles. The Beatles gave a whole new meaning the word music, and are truly, heroes of music.

Music Poem

"The God of Rock 'n' Roll!"

Nothing is easy; if you think it’s so you’d better check again.
Goals can be mined with obstacles named "friend”.
Avoid shiny objects; they're distractions well-planned,
to keep your mind off the evil at hand.

You do the right thing and try hard to maintain.
Juggle responsibilities in a world gone insane.
Sometimes it makes you just want to give-in,
but you won’t, ‘cause you know, you can’t let ’em win.

Daily injustices make your blood boil;
but what’s a guy to do after a hard days’ toil?
You can’t take on everyone, so reserve the power,
choose your battles wisely; more Damage Per Hour.

In my home, I’m the God of Rock ‘n’ Roll,
out in the world I’m viewed as a troll,
it isn’t age that’s exacted its toll,
but the ravaged heart of a tortured soul.

Try to succeed in your profession of choice;
only to join others with no face, no voice.
The pay’s chump-change, how’re you going to get ahead?
Sound depressing?
  ‘Nuff said.

If you succeed; the pay and career are fine!
You only have to sell your soul and your mind.
After a few days off you begin to remember who you really were,
before success turned you into that strange person in the mirror.

Love is tough, don’t believe otherwise.
The toughest man alive is just “one of the guys”.
You’ve been to hell and back due to that chemical you’re so fond of,
that beautiful killer, personal revealer, insane heartbreaker; Love.

In my home, I’m the God of Rock ‘n’ Roll,
out in the world I’m viewed as a troll,
it isn’t age that’s exacted its toll,
but the ravaged heart of a tortured soul.

No matter what the lows, life’s highs will abound,
savor those moments, stake claim to that ground,
those memories are proof that you lived and had some fun,
this is all we can take with us when we’re finally done.

To me, this poem is saying no matter what you have done with your life, no matter what you act like, look like, smell like, with music, you can be whatever you want to be. You can not be judge, as long as you like what you are playing, and just playing in general, you can be the coolest person in the world.

Music of Heroes

There are many Heroes of music, but there is also plenty music of heroes. Super heroes had theme music for their television shows such that had such catchy jingles, that is was impossible to not have memorized. Every time you hear "Spider Man, Spider Man, Does Whatever a spider can." you know that a web swinging, crime fighting hero was on the television set, and you can not help but walking over to the T.V., sit down, and watch the show.,These were some videos of popular T.V. shows. There is also one Song of a Super Hero that wasn't a theme song, but is very well recognized as a Song of a hero.

My Music Hero.

There are many bands that I listen to and all of them had a chance to win the My Music Hero award, such as The Rentals, The Foo Fighters and The Strokes, but there is only one band that can win, and that band is Weezer. The style of their music is so simple and easy to understand, there is not one thing I can think of that would make me dislike them. The band consists of Rivers Cuomo (Lead Singer and Guitarist) Brian Bell (Guitarist) Scott Shriner (Bassists) and Patrick Wilson (Drummer). The Band Was Formed in the year of 1992, and has put out five records, The Blue album, Pinkerton, The Green Album, Maladroit, Make Believe, and their latest album, The red album. They have come out with such songs as My Name Jonas, Island in the sun, and The Greatest Man That Ever Lived. They have such a easy, yet creative style, that I have been attracted to for almost seven years. Here is an example of their style.

My Conclusion

There are many people that think music is a silly hobby or passion, but in retrospect it really isn't. Music has inspired many people to do great things. It is a way of expressing yourself, in which you wouldn't be able to in any other way. "Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons, and you will find that it is to the soul what the water-bath is to the body." said by Oliver Wendell Holmes. This is saying that it is almost impossible to live without music. Music is as important as taking a bath or a shower, and without it, we would be missing a big part of our life, and our souls.

Marion Gaborik: Trade Him or Not

This Week I read an Article on Whether the Minnesota Wild should trade him or not. In This Article, it talks about both sides of the story. It says that Marion Gaborik is prone to injuries and even though he is a dominate offensive force, he will always be there to fill the X on the roster. The Writer wrote "He scored just as much goals as me last year in the playoffs."
On the other hand, when you think back to trading big time players, it never ends up to well. The writer talks about how when the twins traded Tori Hunter, they hoped to go deep in the post season. The Minnesota Twins ended up missing the playoffs. The article also says that if the Minnesota Wild trade Marion Gaborik, they will have to rebuild the team over. It is always hard to make a decision in this type of situation, but a decision but be made.

To much rest for the Phillies

The other article I read this weekend was called "To Much Rest for the Phillies?" It is talking about how to much rest might be bad. It says that rest can be good in increments, but to much at one time will get your head out of the game. In the article it talks about how in the past, teams that have gone a week or almost a week before the World Series have gotten absolutely dominated. It happened last year to the Rockies when they had an eight-day resting period while the Redsox beat the Indians in game seven. Boston went into the World Series and swept the Rockies. It also happened to the Detroit Tigers in the 2005-2006 season. They had a seven-day resting period, and then lost in five games. This article goes to show you that rest can be good, but too much of it can be bad.

Rays Take Home the AlCS Title

This weekend I read an article on the game 7, ALCS. Here is a recap of the ALCS. The Redsox win the first game but the Rays come right back and win three straight games. The Rays failed to captalize twice on beating the Redsox and putting themselves into the World Series, but they proved themselves in game 7. The Redsox scored an early run in the first inning, but that is all they were held to. The Rays Scored runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh inning to put them up 3 to 1, and that would be the final score. In the article it said that the rays were a two hundred to one shot at winning the title before the season. Now instead of them watching some team play in the world series, some team will be watching them play in the world series. The Rays are living the dream right now.

Last Words

Jordan Paster
(2040)
Since I have lost all communication with the world, I haven't spoken to any. I haven't showed any expression. I haven't smiled, I haven't laughed, I haven't frowned, screamed, shouted or cried. It has been five years since I last had anyway of communicating with a living object. My next words are for me and you to cherish for the rest of the life, for they may be my last.
Doctors have made a machine that can depict my thoughts and turn them into words. I have thought what about what I am about to say for the last five, long years.
To my Mom and Dad. Thank you for every thing you have done in my life. The memories we have are helping me get through this tough situation. I think about the good ol' days of when i was a toddler and we used to play in the park with our dogs. I remember of sledding down the big hill at cornelia school. But mostly, I remember about how when I was a little tyke, if i couldn't sleep, mom would come into my room and scratch my back until i drifted of into a deep sleep. Who knows what I was dreaming about then, but I sure remember all my dreams now. As the great band weezer said, "I'm dreamin' through the evenin', I 'm dreamin' all through the day, and when I'm dreamin' I know, that it's ok." These words have lived with me for quite some time, and will live with me forever. I have learned that you can not take anything for granted. Don't let anything get you down for to long, and the most important part, don't let any great oppptunity pass by you, because you never know what could happen to you the next day. You have to make your life out to be whatever you want it to be.
I have spent five hours saying this and am very tired, but the last thing I want say is that, no matter what situation life puts you whether it is hard or sad, you have to fight through the tough times, and get to the next

Rays even it up

This weekend i read an article about the exciting 2008 baseball post season. It includes such teams as Boston, Tampa Bay, Phillies and Los Angeles. The article i read was about the second game of the Tampa Bay and Boston series. The defending champions, Boston, came into the game one game up on this years surprise team, Tampa Bay Rays. Since loosing The "Devil" the rays took a road to heaven and are in the post season for the first time in franchise history. The game was approximately Five hours and twenty seven minutes and ended around one thirty A.M.. The starting pitchers, Scott Kazmir and Josh Beckett, did not have their best stuff. With a total of 27 runs on the night, it was a very intense game. So intense that it went into extra innings. In the bottom of the eleventh inning it was tied eight to eight, with a man third. This man so happened to be Fernando Perez, who is very speedy. B.J. Upton was up to bat, he hit a shallow pop up to right field. Perez tagged up at third, the right fielder rifled the ball home, but was no match for the quickness of Perez. When Perez slid into home plate, the Tampa Bay bench cleared and trampled Perez and Upton for winning the game. The previous "dud" team, just beat the defending World Series Champions.
This just goes to show you that if you try hard enough, and put your heart into something, you will accomplish your goal.

Studs and Duds

This week i read an article about the baseball post season and who is on a hot streak right now and also who is not so much. They said that Jimmy Rollins of the Philadelphia Phillies is going strong right now. He was 6 for 16 ,which is a .375 batting average, in the four game series against Milwaukee. It is also said that Manny Ramirez is on a hot streak himself. In the series against the Chicago Cubs, He had five hits at ten plate appearances. Now to the duds of the post season so far. Chase Utley of the Phillies .133, which is two hits at 15 plate appearances. Another dud is Ryan Howard of the Phillies as well. He had 2 hits with 11 chances.
This just goes to show you that the playoffs bring out the best and the worst in peoples games.

Bus rolls over

Today at around 6 15, a bus rolled over into a ditch. This happened in Williams, California. It is said that at least 50 people were injured in this crash. 30 to 38 of them suffered critical injuries. People are being transported to a nearby hospital. The article says that no one has died thankfully. The picture of the bus just makes it all worse. It is an aerial view of the sideways vehicle. The tops are burnt to a blackish brownish color and the bus looks like it is crushed at one end. It is a very sad sight to see. Not much is being said about this subject, but i hope to learn more soon. It is a very bad feeling not knowing if family members are gonna be ok. Many families are going to be affected by this, but hopefully not to bad. Hopefully no one looses a life in the tragic accident, but only time will tell.

Sidney Crosby

This week i read an article about an up and coming hockey player. He may not be another wayne gretzky, but he is sure getting close, and only his third season. Hockey was not big in Pennsylvania until he started playing. With getting 102 points in his first season (The youngest to do so) and many more the next season, he led the penguins to the playoffs in 2006-2007. This was the first time that hey had gone to the playoffs since 2001. With him playing hockey, more and more kids are starting to play. A lot of kids look up to him as role model. Pittsburgh was seeing more players by the minute, and this was all because of sidney crosby.

Codi and Hallie

Codi and Hallie

The people I am comparing are Codi and Hallie. Hallie and Codi may be sisters but they are very different. Codi is often pondering who she really is and she always seems down in the dumps. I feel she is like this because she has lost a lot in her life. First she lost her mother due to a failing kidney, then when she was a teenager she lost her baby. This makes Codi less adventurous and less willing to take risks. On the other hand her sister Hallie is really different. Hallie loves to help people, as well as Codi, but she traveled all the way to Nicaragua to help people in a time of need. Hallie seems so get up and go while her sister Codi likes to mope around. This could be because Hallie never really lost anything in her life. We also find that Hallie doesn’t mind staying in one place while Codi always has to move around. She says it is because she doesn’t belong anywhere. I really think that she doesn’t like to stay in one place because she doesn’t want to get attached to any one thing or persons. I think this because I think she is afraid to loose something close or personal to her. Since Hallie has never lost something in her life, she isn’t afraid to get close to something or someone. Even though Hallie and Codi have the same blood, the same father, and the same mother, they are very different from each other, and this may be what makes them suck good friends.

Recently Read Book

Of’ Mice and Men, John Steinbeck

In the ninth grade, one of our school books was called Of’ Mice and Men. I thought that this was going to be another boring book, but to my surprise, it ended up to be one of my favorite books ever. Steinbeck writes about two friends, George Milton, who is small and stern, and Lennie Small, who despite his name is very big and strong. Lennie also mentally challenged. Lennie and George run from the police after a girl accuses Lennie of rape, to a town called Soledad. Here, Lennie and George work on a man’s ranch called curly. Curly is very small and acts too tough for his own good. The Two dream about the day when they make enough money to but their own farm. Things seem to be going good, when Lennie is talking to a women only known as Curly’s wife. She lets him touch her hair because it is really soft. He likes the feeling of it so much that he keeps on pulling on it. She struggles and screams, which sets Lennie of to grab her tightly and shake her. This ends up breaking her neck and she dies. Lennie remembers that George told him that if he ever got in trouble to hide in the bush down by the creak. When George and everyone else finds out about Curly’s wife, George remembers what he told Lennie and runs down to the creak. The rest of the group follows George. George gets to Lennie before the rest of the group and talks to him about the farm. He makes Lennie think of good thoughts. George tells Lennie to face the river and think about all the good thought. George Pulls out a gun, and kills Lennie.

The author shows that sometimes in order to protect someone, you sometimes need to hurt him or her. I agree with this because it is like having a very sick pet. In order to protect it, you have to put it down so it won’t suffer.

Adjective

One adjective that describes me is musical. My whole family plays music so I guess that it runs in the family. One reason I am musical is that I play piano. I have been playing piano for over eleven years and have always enjoyed it. I also enjoy playing the drums. Even though I don't take lessons, they are still my favorite instrument play. I like to play them because there are no wrong notes, no matter what you play, just as long as you like the way it sounds, you know how to play them. That is why the word musical would describe me.
